Dr. Shahiem Hartley is a physician with two decades of experience spanning family medicine, infectious diseases, clinical pharmacology, and national clinical leadership. Trained in pharmacy, physiology, and medicine, he now practices in Edmonton and serves as National Medical Director. His work across South African and Canadian systems shaped the Executive Health model and his commitment to mentorship.
Dr. Shahiem Hartley is a physician with a multidisciplinary academic foundation, holding a Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm), a Master’s in Cardiovascular Physiology (MSc), and a Medical degree (MBBCh) from South Africa.
Over two decades, his work has extended beyond family medicine into infectious diseases, clinical pharmacology, insurance medicine, and system-level clinical oversight, reflecting both depth and range. In 2017, he immigrated to Canada with his wife, Dr. Rafiqa Abrahams, a South African-trained medical doctor, and their two sons. Since then, they have welcomed a third son.
After completing Canadian licensing (CCFP), he established himself in Edmonton as a family physician and clinical leader. In 2024, he was appointed National Medical Director, overseeing clinical standards and physician leadership.
Experience in both South African and Canadian healthcare has shaped his perspective on performance, responsibility, and sustainability in medicine. From this vantage point, the Executive Health framework emerged — a structured, physician-led engagement for leaders seeking more than transactional care. Dr. Hartley is also committed to teaching and mentorship, supporting students and internationally trained professionals navigating complex transitions.
His work sits at the intersection of clinical medicine, teaching, strategic thinking, and professional reinvention.
